Gov't institutions have no stability at all—VP Sara
Manila Bulletin
|September 19, 2025
Vice President Sara Duterte hit the government anew for having no stability at all amid massive reports of corruption in infrastructure projects and the continuous politicking and posturing for the 2028 elections.
“Oh, definitely, there is no stability at all with regard to our government institutions. Hindi lang ngayon (It’s not just now), even before. We saw how they abused the power and the institutions for their gains,” she said during an interview in Davao City on Thursday, Sept. 18.
According to the Vice President, she has long sounded the alarm on how the budget is being corrupted but President Marcos turned "Kailangan pa lumubog sa baha yung mga kababayan natin bago merong nag-react na BBM ang pangalan. And even then, hindi pa, hindi pa nagtutugma yung kanyang reaction sa dapat niyang gawin (The people needed to be flooded for someone named BBM to react. And even then, his reaction is lackluster)," she stressed.
"Kaya (That's why) really, truly, our economy is not in the very best," Duterte added.

This is a time for ideas, not just emotions
In last week's column, I tackled how our political and economic uncertainties need meaningful discussion so that solutions can be pursued. The inability to do that will leave us mired in repetitive drama, with much noise but little meaning needed to move forward. This breeds despair and anxiety, and a lack of hope for the future.
