Fishers' group to join Sept. 21 protest vs 'anomalous' flood control projects

Manila Bulletin

September 19, 2025

Progressive fishers' group Pambansang Lakas ng Kilusang Mamamalakaya ng Pilipinas (Pamalakaya) on Thursday, Sept. 18, said it will join the upcoming protest at Luneta Park in Manila on Sept. 21 to denounce the alleged corruption in flood control projects.

- By JEL SANTOS

The group said it will carry a marching streamer to hold accountable government officials, contractors, and corporations allegedly behind the plunder of public funds and destruction of natural resources.

Pamalakaya stressed that beyond the "defective and anomalous" flood control projects, other "profit-driven and environmentally-destructive" ventures such as reclamation and seabed quarrying have worsened flooding and magnified the impacts of typhoons.
