EDCA sites activated for delivery of relief goods - US envoy

The Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) sites have been activated to serve as “staging areas” for the prepositioning of relief goods and rescue equipment for the victims of the recent typhoons and flooding.

This was announced by United States Ambassador MaryKay Carlson in a statement on Saturday, Aug. 2.

Carlson, together with Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. thanked the “Filipino and American frontline service members and local officials who worked together to deliver relief packs to communities affected by recent typhoons and flooding.”

“Joined @DNDPHL Sec. Teodoro in Clark to thank Filipino and American service members and local officials delivering @DSWDserves relief packs to communities affected by recent typhoons and flooding,” Carlson wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“#EDCAinAction sites have been activated to support relief operations,” she added in a post with the hashtag #FriendsPartnersAllies.

On Aug. 2, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) delivered 2,500 tarps from Fort Magsaysay, an EDCA site in Nueva Ecija, to Ilocos Region.
