18 of 52 LEDAC bills approved and moving forward Rep. Sandro Marcos

The House of Representatives passed on third and final reading 18 out of the 52 Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) priority measures before going into its Lenten break, which will extend well into the summer.

- ELLSON QUISMORIO

This was reported on Sunday, March 22 by House Majority Leader Ilocos Norte 1st district Rep. Sandro Marcos, who said that the legislative chamber's performance reflects an aggressive but disciplined push to move the administration's key bills.

He said the wide-ranging measures cover economic reform, public services, education, governance and social protection.

"A total of 18 priority measures already passed or moved to the bicam stage before the Holy Week break. Masigasig po ang inyong Kamara sa pagpasa ng mga prayoridad na panukala ng administrasyon (The House had been resolute in passing the priority measures of the administration).

And so far, we are proud of what we have accomplished," Marcos noted.

The presidential son credited House Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy III for keeping the chamber focused on legislative work.

He says the House has moved with urgency given the Middle East crisis the country has been facing recently.

"We even passed the bill giving the President the power to reduce or suspend the excise tax on petroleum products, dahil ito ang kailangan ng ating mga kababayan (because this is what our countrymen need): immediate relief from high fuel prices and the corresponding increases in the costs of basic goods, transport and other commodities," Marcos, a principal author of the measure, added.
