Stars get swept up in the drama of Oscars night

THERE was no shortage of drama at the 2025 Oscars and I don't just mean newcomer Mikey Madison pipping favourite Demi Moore to be named best actress, or best actor Adrien Brody tossing his used chewing gum to his girlfriend (yuck!).

From Ariana Grande channelling her Wicked alter ego Glinda the Good Witch in a powder-pink Schiaparelli number to co-star Cynthia Erivo's elaborate Elphaba-inspired midnight green velvet gown from Louis Vuitton, the fashion on the night was anything but basic.

Oversized silhouettes, structural designs, rhinestones, crystals, ruffles and frills... It was a case of more is more is more.

Speaking of Moore, while the evening didn’t turn out to be the highlight of her career after all, 62-year-old Demi provided one of the night's most dazzling red carpet looks.

Her heavily embellished body-skimming Armani Prive number with its puddle hem reminded everyone why so many A-listers turn to the Italian designer for their biggest moments.

Search for bodies of hostages

THE tenuous ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war was holding yesterday, even as the return of deceased hostages from Gaza progressed more slowly than Israelis had hoped and health officials in the devastated territory said the Israeli military had fatally shot three Palestinians.
