Salford's Sneyd is to leave club

SALFORD have been hit with a significant blow on the eve of the Challenge Cup fourth round tie against Bradford tonight with the immediate departure of influential half-back Mare Sneyd.

Warrington Wolves have concluded a deal for the Oldham-born playmaker, finding the Red Devils willing to do business as a result of their ongoing financial issues.

In a statement, the club said it ‘finds itself in a position where significant funds have been further delayed!

It added: “In order to field a competitive team that is able to meet the sustainability cap, this decision has been reached in the best interest of all parties.”

Throughout the off-season, Salford - under the previous ownership - remained steadfast in attempting to keep their squad together, resisting calls to move players on.
