Roof ripped off in bus bridge smash

POLICE CALLED AFTER TOP OF VEHICLE CUT OFF
THE roof of a double-decker bus was ripped off last night after hitting a bridge.
Police sealed off Barton Lane in Eccles after the major collision, that saw the bus smash into the bridge where the road runs beneath the Bridgewater Canal.
Pictures taken from the scene show the aftermath, with the entire roof ripped off and chairs on the upper floor left exposed.
