New boss meets with key staff as Ruud departs club

RUBEN Amorim met key United staff at Carrington yesterday afternoon as he began work as the club's new head coach.

The 39-year-old signed off at Sporting in style on Sunday, engineering a comeback from 2-0 down to beat Braga 4-2 and ensure they maintained a perfect record of 11 wins from 11 games in the league.

At 11am yesterday, Amorim and five members of staff that are joining him at United - Carlos Fernandes, Adelio Candido, Paulo Barreira, Emanuel Ferro, and Jorge Vital - boarded a private jet at Beja airport, arriving at Manchester at around 1.45pm.

Amorim then went straight to Carrington and was greeted outside the main entrance of the training ground by chief executive Omar Berrada, sporting director Dan Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox.
