BID BY TRIP LEADERS TO OVERTURN INQUEST VERDICT OF TEENAGER IS REJECTED
A SENIOR judge has denied a request to overturn the verdict of an inquest, which found that a teenager had been unlawfully killed after he died on a Scout trip.
Ben Leonard, 16, died on August 26, 2018, after he suffered a serious head injury while on a trip with the Reddish Explorer Scouts from Stockport.
The injury came when Ben fell about 200ft at the Great Orme in Llandudno, North Wales.
Ben and two friends took a different path from other Scouts, unsupervised by any Scout leaders, who had 'lost' the trio on the Orme. Ben ended up on a 50cm ledge, which was an animal track. He lost his footing, slipped and fell to his death.
