As gender-based violence (GBV) surges, Social Development's Acting Head of Department in the North West, Peggy Mhlongo-Kgaboesele, appealed to male staff members to serve as mentors and advisors in homes.

Mhlongo-Kgaboesele addressed men in her department during a men's dialogue held at Mmabatho Palms hotel in the capital Mahikeng. Mhlongo-Kgaboesele cautioned men to guard against their actions, citing that children learn a lot from the actions of their fathers.
“If we are to lead peaceful lives in our homes, men should learn to engage in uncomfortable conversations with their spouses. Men tend to avoid or bar unsolved matters in their relationships. Men should learn to communicate. Men should also be protectors. They should protect their territory. They must protect their families,” Mhlongo-Kgaboesele told the 150 men who attended the dialogue on Tuesday.
