Prestbury let control slip from their grasp
Macclesfield Express
|July 09, 2025
AFTER a good result last week against Appleton, Prestbury were looking to build on the win against their visitors Wirral at the weekend.
Prestbury skipper Matt Brindley won the toss and asked Wirral to bat first.
Opening bowlers JP Roets and Tom Nelson had early success with Nelson bowing McCormack for 0, but new batsman Muise and Lewis pushed the score on to 66 off 13 overs.
Muise was caught by Brindley off the bowling of Worswick and new batsman Hussain was caught by Fin Calder without scoring, 66 for 3.
In the 16th over Sumon Ahmed bowled Lohan and with Wirral's score on 92, Ahmed bowled Lewis for 57.
Prestbury bowlers were working well but some poor ground fielding and dropped catches meant the next wicket didn't fall till the 30th over at 165, with Alex Fahy catching Atkinson for 15 off the bowling of Calder.
The scoring rate slowed and Calder took his second wicket with Fotherton caught by the Prestbury wicket keeper Muta Ramanathan for 2.
Slight had moved on to 80 before he fell to Bobby Reid, caught by Ramanathan.
