Prestbury close gap in race for survival
Macclesfield Express
|July 02, 2025
AFTER a dismal result last week against Bowden Vale, Prestbury skipper George Brindley was looking for a much improved effort this week with the visitors Appleton just above them - next to bottom - in the table at the halfway stage of the season.
Appleton won the toss and decided to bat frirst, getting off to a solid start with 29 off the first nine overs.
A breakthrough was needed and JP Roets obliged, having Oldcroft caught by Max Cowling Jones for 12.
With only one run added, Alex Fahy bowled Pearson for 0 and Prest-bury were on a roll.
The score had reached 34 when Fahy did it again, bowling Mannion for 0.
Will Worswick came in to the attack and soon had Cooper caught by Dan Woolf for 19, 42 for 4, but a couple of dropped catches saw Hill and Aslam add 97 for the fifth wicket for Appleton.
Prestbury needed a wicket and Fahy took a good catch off his own bowling to dismiss Hill for 53, 135 for 5 and with 18 added.
