League leaders recover from horrific start

MACC Thirds were put into bat away at Stockport Trinity and made a horror start, falling to 20-4 as Chris Moores, Robbie Jennings, Alfie Hughes and Chris Flint were all dismissed for single-figure scores.
The team were rescued initially by a 102-run stand between Sam McDowell and Prem Chandar Anandan.
McDowell was the main contributor, scoring an important 65 (his highest senior score) from just 52 balls hitting nine 4s and three 6s.
When McDowell was dismissed, Anandan upped his own scoring rate and dominated a 46-run stand with Stephen Whittingham, passing his half-century in the process.
Whittingham was bowled for 4 and the score was a competitive 168-6 which improved further as Anandan rapidly progressed to his century.
