Langley fall short in spite of Stanier effort

LANGLEY 1st XI's poor run continued at the weekend with their fourth defeat on the trot.

Langley batted first at home to Northwich and despite a 109 opening stand between Lloyd Sykes, 39, and Robin Smith, 76, Langley could muster only 177.
In reply, Northwich raced to 129-2 before the introduction of Steve Stanier saw the visitors reduced to 155-9. However, a last-wicket stand of 27 saw the visitors scramble home. Stanier 5-17 and Simon Patterson 3-26 bowled well. The result meant the 1st XI slipped to fourth place.
Langley 2nds had a mixed week. In the 20-20 cup they played Macclesfield 3rds. Langley posted 134-8 with Callum Heap 29 and Ricky Hughes 26. A strong Macclesfield side got home scoring 135-6. Heap, 3-19, completed a great night individually.
