Failed drystone wall is blamed for new road collapse

AN UPDATE has been given on the second collapse of the B5470 Macclesfield Road with rain once again blamed Work to fix a section of the route near to Reed Bridge, in Kettleshulme, is set to begin on Monday and expected to take a week.

Two-way traffic lights will be in place until the project is completed.
As previously reported in the Macclesfield Express the carriageway collapsed on June 26.
A spokesman for Cheshire East Council said this week: “We've been investigating what happened and looking at how the road can be repaired safely and as soon as possible.
