Charity's shoebox appeal for children in war-torn Ukraine
Macclesfield Express
|October 22, 2025
A CHARITY that hopes to provide some Christmas comfort for children in war-torn Ukraine is appealing for help.
One Project Ukraine, based in Macclesfield, is sending shoeboxes containing gifts to the eastern European country ahead of the festive season for the fourth year running.
And organisers Jeanette and Craig Rice have asked for donations of filled boxes as well as financial support to ship them over to cities such as Kyiv, Lviv and Odessa.
They set up the charity immediately after seeing the scenes of war on TV and also send shipments of humanitarian and medical aid every fortnight.
Jeanette said: "We like practical things like gloves and hats but also sweet treats, toys and games.
"The more shoeboxes we can send from the UK the more joy and happiness we can put on a Ukrainian child's face in the horrendous situation they are in."
