'The manager has told me to remain patient'

PHIL Foden hopes this season will present him with the chance to establish himself at No.10 after being told by Pep Guardiola to remain patient and work hard for his opportunity.

Foden was the standout performer as City beat Newcastle United 1-0 at the Etihad last night.

The 23-year-old set up Julian Alvarez for the only goal of the game, with the Argentinian firing home a wonderful finish on 31 minutes.

It was one of seven chances created by Foden in a masterful display. The Blues academy graduate has grown frustrated at a lack of minutes recently but took his chance in the absence of Kevin De Bruyne.
