SCOTT McTominay believes Erik ten Hag told him to 'go on and score' before his substitution entrance ahead of his winning double against Brentford although admitted he couldn't hear exactly what was said due to noise of Old Trafford.

The midfielder came on to the field on 87 minutes and netted two stoppage-time goals to turn the game on its head to see United to a vital 2-1 win.

McTominay has been in fine scoring form for Scotland this calendar year but had been unable to transition that into his club game.

But ahead of joining back up with his international team-mates ahead of this month's international break, the 26-year-old netted twice to rescue United following dismal losses to Crystal Palace and Galatasaray.
