Gidley leads England to Marlborough Cup glory

LOUGHBOROUGH Town cricketer Martyn Gidley has led the England's over-50s cricket team to two victories as captain in an international tournament.

Gidley, a PE teacher at Loughborough Grammar School, captained his country in the Marlborough Cup Quadrangular Tournament taking place at Marlborough College in Wiltshire last week.
The tournament featured over-50s sides from England, Wales, India and the USA, playing 45-over fixtures over three consecutive days.
Gidley reflected on how the games unfolded.
"Against the USA, I won the toss and elected to bat and England won by 50 runs in a game reduced to 40 overs due to some rain.
