When two tribes forge ever closer Celtic ties

The claim that St Patrick was Welsh, having been born in Banwen in the Upper Dulais Valley, has a strong chance of authenticity.

Less likely is the view that St David was born in the Temple Bar district of Dublin - propagated, however, only by a small Irish contingent with a twinkle in the eye and a few pints of Guinness in the bloodstream.

Yet it would not have been the kind of rhetoric favoured by the Welsh Government as it announced last week how the governments of Wales and Ireland will commit to develop closer ties in a range of different areas.
