Volunteer spreads the word about Marie Curie

Llanelli Star

June 25, 2025

WE ALL have glimpses of what charities do - whether it’s TV adverts, collections in the street or our local supermarket, or the charity shops where we go to pick up bargain books.

- IAN LEWIS

But how many of us know just what goes on behind this “public face”?

Often, we can feel a bit unsure about how the money collected is used.

Understanding how a charity uses our donations is important to the way people feel about giving; it is key to the way we choose who to trust with our hard-earned money - after all, we want to see it used to the full for the benefit of those we want to help.

An excellent way to gain this understanding is to hear directly from people who know about the work of the charity from their own experience.

Tara Fisher is one such person. Tara volunteers as a speaker for Marie Curie Cymru in the area around Llanelli, giving presentations to local groups and societies by invitation and sharing her story of involvement with the charity, stemming from her own personal loss.
