Community hub celebrates a year of transformation

THE former cricket club in Hendy is marking its first anniversary since relaunching as a community centre following a huge refurbishment effort.

The project has been an extensive undertaking and the transformation by Llanedi Community Council aims to provide much-needed facilities for the area.

The centre, called Canolfan Gwili, opened last July. Now entering its second year, it caters for conferences, events and social occasions, as well as offering meeting rooms with free WiFi and video conferencing facilities.

Inside the centre is also a cafe known as Cegin Beca.

There is also be a large sports hall which can also seat more than 100 people for concerts and events.

To mark its inaugural year, a special celebration is taking place on Friday, July 18.
