Community comes together to create shared space and new friendships

A ONCE-OVERGROWN alleyway in Waterloo has been transformed into a thriving community hub after one resident decided to take matters into her own hands.

What was once a space blighted by brambles and rubbish is now filled with planters, restored cobbles, and even hosts social events that have brought neighbours closer together.

The transformation is the work of teacher Liz Voce-Jules, who was inspired after seeing a similar project in Crosby's Coronation Road.

Residents there had turned their alley into a shared garden where fruit and vegetables now grow, and Liz thought her own street could benefit from something similar.
