AMY THOMPSON says lessons learned from competing against a world-class field can fire her career forward after a memorable international debut in New Delhi.

Amy Thompson competes during the Women's Shot Put F41 Final at the World Para Athletics Championships
The Liverpool para shot put star, 19, finished seventh in her F41 classification at the World Championships after a rapid rise over the last 12 months.
Thompson fell just short of a personal best at a baking hot Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium with a valiant attempt of 8.33m.
The Aintree-based star, whose hero is Katarina JohnsonThompson, took valuable experience from the global showpiece and vowed to use it as a springboard for greater things going forward.
"I'm happy - a year ago I definitely didn't think I'd be here, so I'm really happy," she said.
