Surge in home-schooled kids ‘due to mental health issues’

MENTAL health issues are believed to be one of the biggest reasons children are being taught outside of school, according to Wirral Council officers.

At a children’s and education meeting last week, Cllr Tony Murphy asked for more details on the number of children being taken out of school and taught at home, describing “a big jump” in cases. Over the last year, the number of home-educated children has increased by 34
