EVERTON fans have had their say on 10 prospective transfer recruits following a poll in our ‘Sign or Swerve’ article on Tuesday.

- By CHRIS BEESLEY

This correspondent ran the rule over a selection of players linked with the Blues so far this summer and then gave my verdict on whether or not I thought David Moyes should press the button on them.

ECHO readers were then given the opportunity to decide for themselves and the results making intriguing reading.

I gave the thumbs up to five potential signings and the thumbs down to another five.

Evertonians responding to the piece agreed with four of my positive verdicts and four of my negative choices.

The only player I said I thought Everton should sign but the readers disagreed with was Chelsea striker Liam Delap, who I had pointed out “seems to be the football version of Marmite among Evertonians”.

In contrast, I went against bringing in Harry Wilson, but readers wanted to sign him, although he has subsequently agreed a four-year deal with Leeds United.

Here is a rundown of the full list in reverse order in terms of popularity from those who responded...

Karl Etta Eyong, 22, Levante, striker

Christopher Beesley said: “A new link to have emerged over the past week but I just can’t get my head around it. Okay, the Cameroon international is very much a work in progress, but his numbers are not impressive.

“Thierno Barry cost Everton £27million after 11 goals for Villarreal but has still yet to convince.

“Eyong was also sold by the same club on September 1 last year but then hit just six goals in La Liga for his new side.”

Verdict: Swerve.

ECHO readers replied: 17% sign; 83% swerve.

Edon Zhegrova, 27, Juventus, right winger

Christopher Beesley said: “After Moise Kean, you might think Everton had been put off signing players from Juventus for good.

“Certain outlets reckon that the Blues have been monitoring the Kosovo international for a long time though now.
