EX-RED HESKEY SEES SIMILARITIES WITH MIDFIELD STARS AS FLORIAN LOOKS TO FIND FORM

- By PAUL GORST LFC Corresponden

LORIAN WIRTZ has been urged to take heart from how Luka Modric overcame early adversity to become a legendary figure at Real Madrid as the Liverpool playmaker continues to adapt at Anfield.

And 2001 treble-winner Emile Heskey also likened the Germany international to Philippe Coutinho as he outlined what Wirtz needs to do to establish himself as a key man for Arne Slot.

Wirtz has started six of the Reds' nine Premier League games since moving for £116m from Bayer Leverkusen in June, but last season's Bundesliga player of the year has struggled to hit the heights so far, with Slot's team going through a difficult patch that has seen them lose four successive games in the topflight and six of their last seven in all competitions.
