Two-goal Whitaker frustrated as lead and two points thrown away
Liverpool Echo

TRANMERE Rovers’ Charlie Whitaker said that he and his teammates must take responsibility after failing to hold on to a two-goal lead for the second successive weekend in their 2-2 draw against MK Dons at Prenton Park.
Whitaker netted both goals for the home side, producing a tidy right-footed finish inside ten minutes, before doubling his tally with a lob over the head of goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray just before the half hour mark.
However, the former Everton youth player was left frustrated when substitutes Jon Mellish and Kane Thompson-Somers got the visitors back into the game with two goals in the space of four minutes.
Despite the Dons’ impressive league form, Whitaker felt his side should have walked away with the three points, especially after Jonathan Leko received a red card within just 30 seconds of Mellish’s goal - reducing Paul Warne’s side to ten men.
The Rovers forward said: “It is very disappointing. I think we all need to take a bit of responsibility for seeing games out. So, to go 2-0 up and concede in the manner that we have done and not control the game against ten men is really frustrating”
