Riveting new series set to spark some vital conversations

BOOTS is a military comedy drama that premiered on Netflix last week.

The production started in 2023, but was delayed by a strike in Hollywood for better pay and working conditions for everyone connected with working in the film industry.

As well as contracts, that would include provisions on usage of information and images through Artificial Intelligence, which is changing our lives forever.

This series, Boots, is based on Greg Cope White's memoirs, The Pink Marine, and follows a gay, closeted teenager who joins the US Marine corps in 1990, a period when being gay in the military was illegal.

The story deals with identity, resilience and belonging.

I can relate to so much of it, from my early days, when I was in denial.

I binge-watched the series and found it a riveting, relatable watch.
