SUPPORT DOG NOW WELCOME AGAIN AFTER CONFUSION

- By DAVID HUMPHREYS Local Democracy Reporter

Library mix-up bans Roger the pug

A HUSBAND and wife who regularly take their emotional support dog to Liverpool's city centre library were shocked after being told they couldn't come in.

Angela and Richard Thompson, from Speke, have been visiting Central Library since 2023.

Angela said they adopted Roger the pug to help support Richard's mental health.

Roger, nine, is registered in accordance with the Equality Act to go with Richard, 78, into public buildings.

However the couple were stunned when on their last visit to town they were told that their helper couldn’t go in.

Angela, 63, was told complaints had been made about dogs in the library and therefore he would not be allowed in.

She explained: "My husband is registered disabled and suffers with his mental health so we got a support dog and he is registered.
