Community too scared to walk down 'pitch black' cul-de-sac left with no working street lights
PEOPLE say they are scared to walk home and have to use flash lights to get around due to faulty street lighting.
Residents of Ashburnham Way in Everton said they fear for the safety of themselves and their neighbours at night due to the issue.
The cul-de-sac is accessed by cars off Everton Brow.
Once you get past number three, it is pedestrianised, with large trees and paths running to Field Street and Salisbury Street.
It is a mix of older 1950s housing, from when Ashburnham Way was part of Field Street, and newer builds.
Many say they have raised this issue to Liverpool City Council and local councillor Jane Corbett to no avail.
A spokesperson for the council has told the ECHO the issue has been identified and engineers are working on replacing the lights.
Billy Worthington, 59, who lives on Ashburnham Way, said: "It's been like this for well over 12 months.
"It's pitch black at night and you can't see. I use a mobility scooter to get around.
