JOEY IS SO TINY. I CAN'T BELIEVE SOMEONE HAS JUST PICKED HIM UP AND SNEAKED OFF WITH HIM'

- WESLEY HOLMES

Cruel thief stole my little dog as I helped stranger

A GRANDMOTHER who tried to help a distressed stranger on a bus was repaid for her kindness in the cruellest way imaginable.

As Sharon McCall called 999 and spoke to emergency services at Queen Square bus station, a thief sneaked behind her back and snatched her beloved dog, Joey.

Breaking down in tears, the nan-of-two said: “I was trying to do the right thing by helping but I’ve come off worse and I’m left with the devastation of not knowing where Joey is. I’ve had him since he was a puppy.”

The incident happened at around 9.30pm on Monday.

Sharon, from Southport, had been travelling on the X2 bus to Liverpool when she noticed another female passenger acting strangely.

She said: “She was bleeding from a cut on her head; she seemed not in control.

“She fell over and her head ricocheted off the floor. She fell three times during the journey and I was trying to help her. I could see she wasn’t well and there was something not quite right, and I ended up ringing the ambulance to meet us at Liverpool.”
