Cop denies death charge

A MERSEYSIDE Police officer has denied causing the death of a 22-year-old woman while driving a police car to an emergency call.

Rachael Louise Moore died when she was struck by the marked police vehicle as she crossed Sheil Road in Kensington on Christmas Eve 2022.

PC Scott Thompson, 32, appeared before Manchester Magistrates' Court yesterday charged with causing her death by careless driving.

Appearing in the dock, he spoke to confirm his name, address in Liverpool and date of birth before pleading not guilty to the charge.
