Cisse rues 'huge loss' after Diaz Bayern move
Liverpool Echo
|October 10, 2025
FORMER Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse believes Arne Slot is feeling the impact of allowing Luis Diaz to move to Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.
And the 2005 Champions League winner says the Colombia winger was a huge reason for the Reds sweeping their way to the Premier League title.
Diaz scored 17 goals in all competitions last season as Liverpool won their 20th championship by 10 points, but was sold to Bayern in July in a deal worth £65m after turning down two separate contract offers.
The Reds had initially been relaxed about the winger's future, but having rejected an advance from Barcelona in June, they felt the offer from the German champions was too good to turn down for a player who turns 29 in January.
And Cisse, who played for Liverpool between 2004 and 2007, having joined in a club-record deal worth £14m from Auxerre, feels his old club is missing Diaz.
