300 jobs at risk as factory plans closure

CEREAL FIRM PROPOSES SHUTDOWN OF WIRRAL SITE

A MERSEYSIDE cereal factory could be closed down with more than 300 jobs at risk.

Cereal Partners UK and Ireland is the maker of Nestle cereals such as Cheerios and Shreddies, and currently operates a factory in Bromborough in Wirral. The factory currently manufactures both branded and supermarket branded cereals.

But this week the more than 300 workers at the Wirral site have been told of proposed changes that could see the closure of the factory, with investment instead moving to its factory in Staverton in Wiltshire. Cereal Partners insist that these are only proposals at this stage, but they would put 314 roles at risk if they come to fruition.
