Young side ensure Tigers keep that winning habit

LEICESTER continued their excellent progress in the PREM Cup on Friday night at Mattioli Woods Welford Road with a hard-fought victory over a very decent Northampton Saints who had gone strong hoping for a win in the biggest rugby derby.

Make no mistake, while I believed (and was on record) that home advantage might just shade it for the Tigers, the selection left Northampton as the favourites on paper.

Although, as the cliché goes, the game was played on grass and that's where Leicester won it.

While it was Leicester's attack that started with a bang, with man of the match Joaquin Moro crossing the line within a minute, the game was won by the defence.

Geoff Parling's nonnegotiable virtues of hard work and effort were on full display.
