A MAN charged with the murder of a grandfather after an incident outside a village pub is due to stand trial in April.

Nathan Gothard appeared by video link before a judge at Leicester Crown Court yesterday morning.

The 36-year-old, of Church Street, Appleby Magna, was arrested on suspicion of causing David Darke grievous bodily harm after the alleged attack outside The Crown Inn, in Church Street, on Sunday, December 21.
