'Pub attack' Pc guilty of misconduct

A POLICE officer who assaulted a pub landlord after drinking six pints of lager has been allowed to remain on the force.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, went to the Soar Bridge Inn, in Barrow upon Soar, on June 7, 2024 and got into a confrontation with a man who, she says, had sexually assualted her previously.

Later in the evening, she was causing a disturbance outside the pub in Bridge Street. When the landlord, Ben Stevens, went outside to investigate, the officer jumped on his back with her hands around his neck before he shook her off.

Criminal charges against her were not proceeded with by the Crown Prosecution Service, but Leicestershire Police held a gross misconduct hearing.
