Memorial bell to ring for first time at ceremony

THE Hope Bell, “a lasting tribute to those who lost their lives in the pandemic”, will ring for the first time this week at a ceremony to officially unveil the installation.
The public are invited to attend the “historic moment” at 10.30am on Friday in Queen's Park, Loughborough.
The Hope Bell is part of the Lanes and Links project being led by Charnwood Borough Council and funded by £669,000 from Loughborough Town Deal.
Bells are synonymous with Loughborough as it is home to the last major bellfoundry in the UK, John Taylor & Co Bellfoundry, which made the Hope Bell on behalf of the council.
