Man jailed over 'disgraceful and appalling' treatment of lover who ended their affair
Leicester Mercury
|November 17, 2025
A MARRIED Leicester man started a relationship with an 18-year-old woman, but then bombarded her with threats and stalked her after she ended the relationship.
Craig Thompson met the young woman in April last year, and began an affair with her in which he controlled and abused her, having "complete power over her".
He threatened to attack her dog if she didn't do what he told her to.
He was jailed for 12 months after being found guilty of two crimes - using controlling or coercive behaviour, between April and October last year, and stalking involving fear of violence in October 2024.
The victim had first reported Thompson to Leicestershire Police in September 2024 after a "minor assault" but decided against supporting a prosecution after she realised she was pregnant with his child. She decided to stay in the relationship.
In October, things got worse again, and she ended the relationship for good. But Thompson, of Norman Street, off Narborough Road in Leicester, would not accept the relationship was over and bombarded her with threatening messages.
She went to police a second time. After being charged, Thompson denied the offences and a trial took place with the woman having to give evidence.
Thompson went along for the first day of the two-day trial but failed to show up for the second and was found guilty in his absence.
