LEICESTER'S HERO INTO UK CHAMPIONSHIP LAST EIGHT AFTER BEATING ZHOU 6-2

MARK Selby claimed it was becoming harder to win Triple Crown titles after advancing into the UK Championship quarterfinals.

Leicester's two-time champion remains on course for a third UK title after beating Zhou Yuelong 6-2 in their second round match at the York Barbican.

Selby opened up against Zhou with a 73 but the Chinese player delivered the highlight of the evening with a sublime break of 132 to go 2-1 up.

The Jester went 62 minutes and 50 seconds without potting a ball at one point before getting back to 2-2.

From that point onwards, the Leicester man took complete control of the match.

Selby jokingly looked at his watch after winning a prolonged fifth frame that lasted over 53 minutes before knocking in breaks of 71, 75 and 56 to set up a last eight meeting against either Elliot Slessor or Barry Hawkins.

Selby looks to be in fine form this week, having already comfortably beaten Scottish Open champion Lei Peifan 6-2 in round one.
