‘Dishonesty’ by teacher was serious misconduct

A TEACHER has been barred from the classroom after being caught with alcohol at two schools.

On one occasion, she had a clear, alcoholic liquid in a water bottle, and on the other she had an unopened miniature bottle of wine in her pocket, witnesses told a misconduct hearing.

Michelle Stant also crashed into the gates of Oakwood Community School, in Bagworth, a report found.

A panel further found she had hidden her employment at Oakwood when she applied for a later job.

A misconduct panel ruled her actions fell “significantly short of the standard of behaviour expected of a teacher”.

It recommended that she be barred from the classroom, with a review of that ban allowed after three years.

Ms Stant started teaching at Oakwood at the end of October 2020.

On November 25 that year, she drove her car into the school gates and also hit a bollard.
