County's tax defaulters named and shamed by government

FOUR businesses and individuals have been named publicly by the government after failing to pay their tax bills of more than £25,000.

In one case, a takeaway failed to pay more than £112,000 in owed tax between the start of September 2018 and the end of August 2022.

It has now been handed a penalty of more than £53,600.

Another business failed to pay more than £45,400, and has been given a penalty of more than £17,400.

Across Leicester and Leicester-shire, a total of more than £213,622 in missed payments are in a newly published list by His Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

The penalties charged to those who failed to pay amount to more than £107,056.
