Collections of winter clothing get under way

WINTER essentials are wanted for disadvantaged young people.

Leicestershire charity Lifting Children's Hopes (LCH) aims to provide gloves, scarves, hats and coats to more than 500 disadvantaged children across the city.

This week, the charity began contacting schools across the city offering them the chance to nominate those who are impacted by poverty, bereavement or difficult home lives.

It said it has already received more than 100 nominations.

Nichola Moore, CEO of LCH, said, "Because of poverty, too many children do not have access to the essential items needed to live day to day here in the Leicestershire.
