Campaign aims to keep youngsters safe in sport

SPORTING organisations have run a campaign calling on parents and carers to keep children safe.

The NSPCC’s annual Keeping Your Child Safe in Sport highlights the role parents play and encourages conversations about the kind of support that helps children feel safe and able to enjoy themselves.

In 2024/25, the NSPCC helpline dealt with 623 contacts from adults concerned about a child’s welfare in a sports setting - an increase of 47 per cent on the previous year.

In Loughborough, British Triathlon has hosted NSPCC Listen Up Speak Up workshops for staff and members to equip participants with more knowledge to help with child safeguarding and protection.
