Boring to watch? Well, City seem to lack ideas
Leicester Mercury
|November 11, 2025
LEICESTER City were 10 points clear at the top of the Championship table in late January 2024 when manager Enzo Maresca threatened to walk out on the club.
He was frustrated at the detractors in the stands, with some fans groaning when the City players passed backwards in order to keep possession.
If those supporters believed the football was boring then, what must they think now?
Turning possession into opportunities has been a far tougher task this season.
Harry Winks admitted as much, but didn’t leave the blame exclusively at Marti Cifuentes’ door, saying it had been “our problem for the last couple of seasons”
Cifuentes has not tried to hide from the fact either.
He said he agrees with Winks, putting the problems down to quality and decision-making in the final third, as well as the hangover from last season’s relegation.
Cifuentes said: “I don’t want to judge what happened before my arrival but I've spoken about it sometimes and I think you've seen it already this season.
