Benefits man made threats to bomb city mayor's office

A MAN on the phone to Leicester City Council got angry and threatened three times to have city mayor Sir Peter Soulsby’s office bombed.

Adam Buchiya was complaining about his housing benefits not coming through and was told he needed to sign some more paperwork.

Losing his temper, he said he would get the Lebanese terrorist organisation Hezbollah to bomb Sir Peter's office, and said the council staff were “bloody idiot white people”.

Buchiya was arrested and was this week handed a 12-month community order, having pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to sending an offensive communication.

Prosecutor Tracy Lovejoy told Leicester Magistrates’ Court: “On October 21, 2024, the defendant called Leicester City Council customer services wanting to know why his housing benefits had been stopped. He became more agitated as the call went on.
