Schools face big new ‘fight for life’

BATTLING parents and governors are being called into action once again to fight for two Moorlands schools they successfully fought to save just three years ago.

County councillors meeting in Stafford on Friday recommended that the middle schools at Warslow and Waterhouses should be closed in a bid to save the present three tier system in the area’s schools.

But their decision brought an angry response from district councillor Allan Large, one of the leading campaigners in the 1983 struggle to keep the schools open after the county council had decided to close them.

“Nothing has changed since then so I don't see how there is any need to close the schools now when there wasn't three years ago,” said Mr Large, who is a member of the board of governors at Waterhouses.
