'Near miss' between train and rail workers

According to an initial description of the incident from the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB), in April of this year, three track workers were nearly hit by a train in Bookham. Fortunately, no one was injured and no damage was caused to the train.

A spokesperson for the RAIB explained: “At around 11.44am on April 29, 2025, a train operated by South Western Railways, which was travelling at around 30mph (48 km/h), was involved in a near miss with a team of three track workers within Bookham Tunnel in Surrey.”
