Government hospital funding 'a drop in the ocean'

AN MP says funding to be provided to hospitals in Surrey is "a drop in the ocean" compared to what is needed.

Government hospital funding 'a drop in the ocean'

Liberal Democrat MP for Epsom and Ewell, Helen Maguire, has criticised the Government's recent announcement of funding for NHS hospitals under the Estates Safety Fund: 2025 to 2026, saying the allocation for Epsom & St Helier Hospitals "will barely touch the sides".

At the Autumn Budget 2024, the Labour Chancellor confirmed £750 million in capital funding for 2025 to 2026 to address "critical infrastructure and safety risks" in NHS hospital buildings across the England.

Last week, the Department of Health and Social Care announced how this funding will be allocated to England's trusts.

The Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust will receive just over £12 million.
